Dear Community Residents:
I have been welcoming students to my yoga practice, “Just ‘B’ Yoga with Betsy Paul” since July 2013. Since that time, I have introduced yoga to many women in their 40s and 50s who have said that that they had never tried yoga because they did not think they were flexible enough. Thoughts like these lead to feelings of self-consciousness; however, as I explain to my students, one of the reasons to start a yoga practice is to build flexibility and strength as well as to release feelings of anxiety.
I help women feel welcome to the practice of yoga and to show them that yoga meets them where they are. I teach gentle vinyasa flow yoga, as well as yin yoga focusing on the breath and moving inward to stay present in the moment. I teach tools to help students take yoga off the mat and into the world to aid in daily stress-relief and feelings of inner calm. I also provide periodic workshops on various yoga topics, like Yoga Nidra, Weight Loss, and Eliminating Emotional Eating through yoga.
My classes are small (no more than 5 women in a class) so that I can give equal attention to everyone. I also teach private yoga sessions. My classes are held at my home in Gaithersburg, two miles from Downtown Damascus, and my studio has a private entrance. My small classes help to lessen feelings of self-consciousness for some women who are new to yoga.
